My accountancy training began when I started work in an accounts practice. After 3 years I moved to working in industry for a division of the Mowlem Group. Heavily involved in developing the IT Accounts System, this culminated in project managing the implementation of Oracle across the group. I then moved on to be Project Accountant for the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, auditing the construction from London to the Coast.

I then opted for a complete change, becoming a publican for 6 years building running and  running a very successful village pub; that taught me a great deal about small and medium sized businesses, about communities and the value of having good people around you. Having become used to working for myself, I started up Tulip Accounting in 2006 and haven't looked back. I work with an amazing team and we all have the same goal – to provide our clients with a quality of service that delivers over and above every day. Plus we enjoy what we do - that is what really makes the difference, and our clients benefit from this on a daily basis.

In 2014 I joined Tulip Accounting to support Sarah in the management of the practice.  As the business has grown so has my role, particularly  in the management of client workflow, now supporting other businesses in this area too.  I enjoy the hands on bookkeeping roles I have, supporting clients with their sales and purchase ledgers, developing and maintaining relationships with both their clients and suppliers. Having worked with Sarah before, the experience gained working in  pub and event management gives me a good knowledge to support these clients, understanding the needs and challenges of their industries

With a young family now too life is busy and full of challenges, best way to be!

My career started in London, working in a number of merchant bank payroll departments. Following this I went on to become the National Group Payroll Manager for a large retail store. After a break to have my three children I decided to use my finance knowledge to work as a bookkeeper for a firm of accountants in Reigate. This led to me working as an accountant to produce company accounts for 75 clients, as well as rolling out new real-time accounting software to clients. A move to West Sussex brought me to Tulip Accounting, where I get a real sense of fulfilment from interacting with and helping our clients.

2023 brings my 10th anniversary of working at Tulip.  Working with some amazing clients over a range of industries I enjoy the challenges that multiple systems & integrations bring.  Supporting both clients and the team, we develop processes to streamline the accounts systems to provide timely and essential reporting to our clients.  Consistency is important in our service and the relationships we hold with our clients, which I very much enjoy.  Embracing and meeting the challenges we are given by the needs of our clients makes what we do so interesting

I enjoy being able to work around family life, our 2 children both still at school.  It is fun having dogs in the office, though not sure my cats would agree!

Staring my career in teaching, my role was varied and interesting with the need to be able to multitask being essential.  My years working at Tulip have given and required the same

Supporting clients with their credit management, I engage with a large number of people to ensure invoices are paid on time, queries are investigated and resolved, all essential in cash management.  I work with a good number of our clients managing their purchase ledgers, expenses and credit card transactions. Timely processing is important to ensure deadlines are met both for management report and HMRC filings

With a young family, I just love being able to work as well as being a mum

My background is operations management in the hospitality sector.  Studying AAT whilst bringing up my family began the transition to accounts.  Good organisation is key to working in a busy accounting practice, and  for me, as I work with a large number of our clients on bookkeeping, payroll and vat returns

Every day is different to the next as you never know what clients might need from you.  I enjoy the relationships we develop with our clients and interacting with the rest of the team as we work to meet the monthly filing deadlines.

My career before family was around customer service and administration management. Now that my family have grown up I really enjoy working here at Tulip as PA to Sarah.  My role is varied as  I assist in a range of tasks supporting her and the team.  We work using one accounts system, Xero, but lots of other systems alongside.  It is great to learn about all of these and to be able to provide such a variety of administrative support as they need it

My first role at Tulip was in providing the team with administrative support whilst I completed my AAT studies following a  BA degree in Economics in Hungary

I now have my own clients and provide bookkeeping and payroll services whilst also supporting members of the team with some of our larger clients ledgers.  I enjoy the variety of the work and learn something everyday!

Most of my family are in Hungary and I'm glad of the work/life flexibility offered by Tulip to be able to see them regularly with my husband and boys when time and opportunity allows.

I started my working life as an apprentice accountant before moving to the insurance industry. Moving to Sussex from Yorkshire prompted my move to Tulip along with an eagerness to work in Practice alongside studying for my ACCA exams. Currently I have my own clients to manage on a monthly basis, looking after every aspect of their ledgers. I also specialise on the year end accounts and am looking forward to embracing all that is MTD as the Practice looks to support this move for our clients.

Working with Tulip allows me to spend time with Trev, my Pug, who is under my desk at home and at work.

I joined Tulip after relocating from Barbados.  My career has been in accounts, specialising in Credit Management including leading credit control teams in the Cayman Islands for a major Security Firm for 10 years

In addition to supporting our clients credit control needs I also look after the purchase ledgers for our clients in the hospitality sector

As a single parent with 2 primary school children life is busy and fun, being able to have flexibility at work has meant I can juggle it all. I am a master of multi-tasking!

After working for Tulip for over 10 years I decided to have a break, qualify and set up my own business teaching Yoga, which I love and now run classes 5 days a week

Missing the team and the clients I am now back supporting Tulip on an ad hoc basis, offering training and support as required
